SLCC Podcast: Satanism, Insanity, and Dungeons & Dragons

The panel featured on today’s podcast took place on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 3pm in room 151G of the Salt Palace Convention Center.

Titled Satanism, Insanity, and Dungeons & Dragons, the panel addresses gaming part of the Satanic Panic in the 1980s which insisted, stridently, that anybody playing D&D was worshipping the devil and on the road that inevitably led to insanity and death.

Today’s panel features

Leigh George Kade (@LGKade) – of the Geek Show Podcast. His introduction isn’t a part of the audio. The other panelists include:

Platte Clark (@PlatteClark) – author of Bad Unicorn from Simon and Schuster

Charles Gannon – author and writer for several games at GDW

Michael A. Stackpole (@MikeStackpole) – author of Star Wars and Warcraft books and part of the Industry Watch Committee of the Game Manufacturers Association.

It was moderated by Bryan Young (@swankmotron), writer for, Star Wars Insider, and host of the Full of Sith Podcast.

If you’ve never played the game, the fifth edition is currently the latest and is a great place for beginners to start. (
