Marina Sirtis, best known for her role as Counselor Deanna Troi on “Star Trek: The Next Generation. She was born in London, England to Greek parents who did not want her to become an actress. As soon as Marina completed high school, she secretly applied to the Guild Hall School of Music and Drama. Sirtis began playing small roles in both British and American features and TV, including “Space Riders” (1983) and “Blind Date” (1984). After her graduation she moved to L.A. and 6 months later, just before she planned to go back home, she got the part of Counselor Deanna Troi in “Star Trek: The Next Generation” She emigrated to the U.S. in 1986, later becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen.
Sirtis went on to reprise her signature role in the “Star Trek” features and several episodes of the spin-off series “Star Trek: Voyager,” as well as TV sci-fi fare such as “Stargate SG-1” and “Gene Roddenberry’s Earth: Final Conflict. She has appeared in dozens of shows including Family Guy, The Closer, Grey’s Anatomy, The Outer Limits and many more.
Sirtis married Michael Lamper, a rock guitarist, and they are still together today. She is very good friends with Star Trek co-star Jonathan Frakes (William Riker) and is best friends with Star Trek co-star Michael Dorn (Worf).
