Adam was born in Seattle Washington on September 19, 1928 to Otto West Anderson and Audrey V. Speer. West attended Walla Walla high school and then enrolled in Lakeside School. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Degree in Literature with a minor in Psychology from Whitman College. He was also a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity as well as the speech and debate team. While living in Hawaii, Adam got the role as sidekick on a children’s show El Kini Popo Show, and later he took the lead role.When Adam moved to Hollywood in 1959, he took the stage name as Adam West. He showed in the film The Young Philadelphians, Sugarfoot, Colt.45, and Lawman.

In 1961 west got the role of Jock Mahoney, the young ambitious deputy in the western series Laramie. Later, producer William Dozier spotted west and the James Bond-like spy for a Nestlie Quick television ad and cast him as Bruce Wayne and the alter ego Batman. The show ran on ABC from 1966-1968 and the film war released in 1966. West was offered the role of James Bond in 1970, but declined because he believed the role should be played by a British actor.

He had several guest appearances. He was on Conan O’Brien and Robert Smigel’s Late Night Show. West has had several voice over roles on The Simpsons, Rugrats, The Critic, The Boondocks, Kim Possible, Jonny Bravo, and Batman:The Animated Series to name a few. He also played Mayor Adam West in Family Guy. West received a Golden Palm Star and a star in 2010 and a Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 2012.
