Morena Baccarin on Fox’s Batman prequel series Gotham

When Fox’s hit show “Gotham” returns tonight, fans of Salt Lake Comic Con will notice a familiar addition to the cast. “Firefly” alumna and FanX ’15 guest Morena Baccarin will join Ben McKenzie, Robin Lord Taylor, Jada Pinkett Smith and the gang, introducing Dr. Leslie Thompkins in upcoming episodes.
Entertainment Weekly recently sat down with Baccarin, who describes her character – a physician at Arkham Asylum – as someone who “definitely can get down and dirty.”
“She’s inquisitive and interested,” Baccarin said, “and I think wants to get her hands dirty and wants to get in there with Jim [Gordon,] so I think it’s not completely out of the question that she has a little bit of that side to her.”
In the article, Baccarin assured Entertainment Weekly that Dr. Thompkins will not be allured by the overwhelming corruption found in Arkham Asylum, Gotham and its crooked police department. “[Dr. Thompkins] doesn’t really care what anybody thinks. She’s a good person. She doesn’t do anything terrible, but she’s not going to cater to stupid people, so it can be disarming but it can also be infuriating to certain people.”
“Gotham” begins the second half of its debut season on Fox tonight, January 5, at 7 p.m., Mountain Time. Read the rest of the Entertainment Weekly article and get a sneak peak of Thompkins’ first encounter with Jim Gordon here.
