KUTV Web Exclusive: Dan Farr on how Salt Lake Comic Con gained momentum for the first event

(KUTV) Salt Lake Comic Con is one of the top five conventions in the United States.

The first convention was supposed to take place at the South Towne Convention Center but eventually had to be moved to the Salt Palace Convention Center in downtown Salt Lake.

“It exceeded what we anticipated,” said Dan Farr, who co-founded the event.

But the first event also had some challenges. Processing tickets caused some very long lines and some frustration from fans.

“It’s kind of a mixed blessing–you want everybody to see the popularity,” Farr said of the event. “But the other side of that is you hate to think that somebody’s standing in line waiting for potentially even hours to get in when they should be in having that experience.” (…)
