Salt Lake Comic Con is looking for talented, dynamic and driven interns to join our team for FanX 2017! Community Outreach, Customer Service, Graphic Design, Marketing Events, PR/Media Relations, Social Media and Web Development internships are all available.

We hope to provide an excellent opportunity to get hands-on training, gain new skills, and grow your resume at an exciting company. Interns will be working for school credit, FanX 2017 passes, and a behind-the-scenes experience at the big event.

FanX™ 2017

MARKETING EVENTS INTERN

Salt Lake Comic Con is looking for dynamic, outgoing Marketing Events Intern. Assistant will provide general administrative and event planning support to manager and other Salt Lake Comic Con team members in the areas of marketing events. It will be an excellent opportunity to get exceptional training, gain new skills, and grow with an exciting new company. It is our goal to instill the basic teachings of marketing and event planning. 

Candidate should be studying Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Business or similar field with a strong interest in Salt Lake Comic Con. Current juniors or seniors are fine, as well as candidates with 1 – 2 years of experience who are interested in working for school credit, FanX 2017 passes, and a behind-the-scenes experience at the big event.

Requirements:

  • Comfortable making first contact in person, on the phone, or via email with potential partners.
  • Must have strong PC skills and technology/social media skills.
  • Excellent writing skills including grammar, spelling, and attention to detail and format.
  • A mature, accountable individual with excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Comfortable speaking on the phone with excellent phone presence.
  • Must be very organized, multitask and flexible for changing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be enthusiastic, articulate, poised and professional with a positive attitude.
  • Must be good at working as part of a team.
  • Be able to learn quickly and be trained on special software packages and applications.
  • Have access to a personal computer with internet access to be able to work virtually.
  • A reliable car and driver’s license.
  • Experience using Google Docs is a plus.
  • Prior experience with event planning is a plus.

Salary:

  • Non-paid in lieu of school credit and FanX 2017 passes. (Two VIP Passes and five Multipasses.)

Availability:

  • We would like our Marketing Events  Intern to be available at least 15 – 25 hours per week during office hours, Monday-Friday, anytime between 10 am and 7 p.m. Depending on their work performance, intern will be allowed to work on projects from home.
  • Must be completely available to work on-site at the Salt Palace Convention Center Tuesday, March 14, 2017 through Saturday, March 18, 2017 for FanX 2017.
  • Internship will begin after interviews have been completed and will run through March 18, 2017. A short follow up meeting will happen after the show.

FanX™ 2017

SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN

Intern will assist Social Media Manager and other Salt Lake Comic Con marketing team members with social media account maintenance, content curation, copywriting, customer service, and assorted special projects leading up to Salt Lake Comic Con FanX 2017.

The Social Media Intern will also serve as a member of the Salt Lake Comic Con FanX 2017 Social Media Team and will assist in covering the event live on our official social media channels. We hope to provide an excellent opportunity to get hands-on training, gain new skills, and grow your resume at an exciting company.

Candidate should be studying Marketing, Communication or similar field with a strong interest in Salt Lake Comic Con and social media marketing. Current college juniors or seniors are welcome to apply, as well as candidates with 1 – 2 years of experience who are interested in working for school credit, FanX 2017 passes, and a behind-the-scenes experience at the big event.

Requirements:

  • Avid social media user. Very comfortable using Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, Pinterest, Tumblr, Instagram, Snapchat, and others.
  • Must be very comfortable using a computer and social media apps.
  • A mature, accountable individual with excellent time management and organization skills. Experience using Basecamp is a plus.
  • Excellent writing skills including grammar, spelling, and attention to detail and format.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to follow verbal and written directions.
  • Have access to a personal laptop, a smartphone that can access Instagram, Snapchat, Periscope, etc., reliable internet access, and reliable transportation.
  • Experience using Google Docs is a plus.

Availability:

WEB DEV & DESIGN INTERN

Salt Lake Comic Con is looking for a dynamic, creative Web Development/Web Design Intern who has experience with WordPress and Adobe CC. You will work with Salt Lake Comic Con’s Web Developer and creative department to ensure the completion of official Salt Lake Comic Con webpages, collateral, assets and artwork. In this position, you will gain experience in web development, graphic design, marketing, advertising and creating web pages in real time for a fast-paced company that is on the cutting edge of creative innovation. We hope to provide an excellent opportunity to get hands-on training, gain new skills, and grow your resume at an exciting company.

Candidate should be studying Web Development or a similar field with a strong interest in Salt Lake Comic Con. This internship is ideal for skilled students, who are looking to learn and be challenged by a highly creative work environment, while building a killer portfolio. Current college juniors or seniors are welcome to apply, as well as candidates with 1 – 2 years of experience who are interested in working for school credit, FanX 2017 passes and a behind-the-scenes experience at the big event.

FanX™ 2017

COMMUNITY OUTREACH INTERN

Salt Lake Comic Con is looking for dynamic, outgoing Community Outreach Intern. You’ll work with comic book shops and other businesses to create mutually beneficial partnerships and promotions. In this position, you will come up with creative promotional opportunities and handle fulfillment. This can include tasks like putting welcome signs in business windows, enter-to-win contests, providing discount coupons, mailing posters, selling tickets to Salt Lake Comic Con, etc. You will work with businesses primarily in Utah. Some travel (not further than a 40-60 minute drive) will be necessary.

Candidate should be studying Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Business or similar field with a strong interest in Salt Lake Comic Con. Current juniors or seniors are fine, as well as candidates with 1 – 2 years of experience who are interested in working for school credit, FanX 2017 passes, and a behind-the-scenes experience at the big event.

  • This is mostly a work-from-home position. We would like our Customer Service Intern to be available at least 15 – 25 hours per week during office hours, Monday-Friday, anytime between 10 am and 7 pm.
  • Must be available for on-site staff meetings on Mondays from 3:00-6:00.
  • Must be completely available to work on-site at the Salt Palace Convention Center Wednesday, March 15 – Saturday, March 18, 2017 for the Salt Lake Comic Con FanX 2017 event.
  • Internship will begin after interviews have been completed and will run through March 17, 2017. A short follow up meeting will happen after the show.
