From Show Producer Dan Farr:
We sure had a lot of fun yesterday on April 1, 2014. Salt Lake Comic Con and Dan Farr Productions would like to clear up some questions regarding the guest announcements made on our Facebook page yesterday. We had fun joking around in the spirit of April Fool’s Day, but after reading the numerous comments on Facebook, perhaps there is still some confusion with our fans. Sometimes in show business, the schedules of in-demand guests shift and big commitments have to be broken. And sometimes on April Fool’s day, you say things that are just not true. We got back comments like these:
Alex B. said: “I swear to Odin if this is a joke I will burn the whole state to ash with my rage.”
Honestly A. said: “If this is an April Fools, I want you to be hit by a bus ;)”
Brendan M. said: “If this is an April Fools joke, I swear by my pretty little bonnet, I will end you.”
That said, we want to clear things up….
…we regret to announce that Bacon will not be able to appear at Salt Lake Comic Con FanXperience. We know many fans were excited to meet Bacon and get autographs and Photo Ops, but this will no longer be possible. We apologize.
We would also like to add that the Paula Deen and Richard Simmons announcement was an April Fool’s Day gag. As much as we love Ms. Deen’s cooking and Mr. Simmons’ enthusiastic aerobics routines, we have not booked either of them as guests at Salt Lake Comic Con FanXperience.
Salt Lake Comic Con asked our Facebook friends what additional guest we should get for FanXperience and the answer was clear: Nathan Fillion. He was the #1 choice in our poll. Following the excitement from the fans yesterday, we felt we must make it clear: Nathan Fillion will be attending the Salt Lake Comic Con FanXperience as a Spotlight Guest. We are very excited this was not part of the April Fool’s Day tomfoolery!
Nathan is best known for playing Captain Malcolm Reynolds in Joss Whedon’s Firefly and Serenity, as well as writer Richard Castle in ABC’s hit series Castle. He has appeared in Slither, Internet-distributed films like Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, television soap operas and sitcoms, and theater, and voice acted in the video games Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach as well as animated films Wonder Woman, Green Lantern: Emerald Knights, Justice League: Doom and Monsters University.
