SALT LAKE CITY – October 31, 2013 – Salt Lake Comic Con (SLCC) today announced that Co-Founder and Vice President of Marketing Bryan Brandenburg will speak at the Utah Collegiate DECA conference at the Yarrow Hotel, in Park City, Utah on November 2, 2013.
Brandenburg’s presentation will begin at 12:30 pm MST.
DECA prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
“Salt Lake Comic Con was an amazing success and an amazing case study of how to quickly build a loyal fan following and create a successful event,” said Karsten Walker, Utah DECA Assistant Advisor. “We know our students will enjoy hearing the Salt Lake Comic Con story and the marketing strategies Bryan implemented that enabled him and his team to shatter previous first time Comic Con attendance records and make it the standard bearer for future Comic Cons.”
The inaugural Salt Lake Comic Con was held September 5-7, 2013 at the Salt Palace Convention Center in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. Salt Lake Comic Con 2013 was a record setting event. It was the largest first time Comic Con in North American history, the largest convention ever in the state of Utah with over 72,000 attendees and exceeded initial expectations with more than 50,000 ticket sales. The Salt Lake Comic Con Facebook page is the most popular fan page of any Utah company. The success can be attributed to the marketing and social media strategy Brandenburg created and executed combined with a potent celebrity guest lineup and robust program developed by his partner Dan Farr.
“I’m an entrepreneur at heart and feel the marketing and social media strategies I implemented at Salt Lake Comic Con are critical to success for any business,” said Brandenburg. “Most of these students are probably already very familiar with and active participants in social media. My goal is to help them understand how marketing and properly leveraging social media can create greater success and growth for their businesses.”
